Doodling on anything and everything since I can remember, art has always been one of my creative outlets. I have always had an interest in art which I believe started with the help of my grandfather, a lifelong painter. He taught me many techniques as a young child and used many hands on teaching with his own paintings. He has been one of my main inspirations that have led to my pursuit in art in many forms. As I have grown my art skills have developed I have been able to use many mediums, but i have personally become partial to painting.
The pieces that I have selected to enter in the show are both a chronological development of my art in high school and a broad range of mediums. I believe that by using both of these aspects shows my personal growth as an artist and my strengths. I am also hoping tht my art work makes people enjoy the beauty in nature and the emotions conveyed in my poortraits. By combing my photography with my art I have used pictures of nature and poverty from Africa to show the beauty and hard ships of life.
By involving art in my life it has allowed me to express myself in a way for others to see and hopefully feel. When I go into school everyday and I finally get to sit down in front of my easel I can relax. I let my hands go free while I mix my paint and my mind drifts away into a place that only my fellow artists can understand. As I let my mind go I put my heart into my brush and let the strokes carry my hand to and fro across the canvas; this is what art is to me, my peace, quiet, and creativity.
